A note from our Superintendent
I know many of you have questions. I wish I had the answers. But I do know this, we will celebrate our seniors at some point. I cannot make guarantees about other extra curricular activities. Some of that is beyond our control. We had no way to predict this unbelievable circumstance, but we are all on the same page about our celebrations. There is no law against proms, banquets, and graduations during the summer. As soon as we know more about where we are, we will make plans to celebrate our kids because they deserve it!
We are trying to be conservative with our decisions by taking small steps according to the guidelines of the CDC and the leaders of our country. For the time being, the President and the CDC have asked us to practice social distancing until the end of April. That is the basis of the last decision.
I am seeing concerns about going to school during the summer. The point of sending school work home is to continue to provide an education. As long as students are doing their work, they will remain in good standing-as long as they were in good standing before this happened. We will provide more information about grading soon.
Please hang in there with us! We love and miss our kids. I am accustomed to empty hallways during the summer, but there is always a buzz and anticipation of the next year as we frantically get ready for our kids again! The empty hallways just make me sad. For now, let’s do our best to follow guidelines and get this terrible virus gone! I love you all and miss seeing everyone! Our Longhorn family will be back together soon!
